Region 6 anticipates advertising to fill a GS-819/1350-13 On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) position in the state of Washington.  This is a full time permanent position working on Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) projects (primarily abandoned mine clean up) in the region.  The duty station will be either Olympia or Wenatchee, Washington.

 The Gifford Pinchot National Forest will soon be filling a Support Services Specialist, GS-342-6/7 career ladder, located on the Mt. Adams Ranger District, with a duty station in Trout Lake, WA. 

About the Position
The incumbent provides administrative and clerical support for a variety of functions on the District, with an emphasis on support services to a large resource staff, directing office services, oversight of administrative practices and procedures, and budget formulation and tracking.  Incumbent provides supervision and oversight to subordinate employees.   Duties include maintaining hardcopy and electronic files, correspondence, and administering permits and contracts.  Plans and coordinates a variety of office support work such as procurement, property, stocking of office supplies, personnel support, and maintaining office equipment. Keeps current on new policies and provides information on procedural practices to staff.

Elwha River Science Symposium

The Elwha River dams on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington will soon be the
largest dams ever removed. Electric generation has ceased and engineering
preparations are underway. After more than 20 years of planning, Saturday
September 17, 2011 will mark the official beginning of deconstruction. A
public "Celebrate Elwha" event will mark the day with many leaders and

Make Your Mark: Help mark storm drains July 16

Help keep Tacoma's waterways clean by gluing "No Dumping, Drains to Puget Sound" markers next to storm drains in the Stadium Neighborhood of Tacoma.
When: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 16, 2011. Lunch for the volunteers will be provided following the curb marking project.

WorkForce Central will host the 2011 Pierce County SEES (Social, Ecological, Economic Sustainability) Forum from 10-1 on Friday, July 8 at its Cedar Street location. (3650 South Cedar Street, Tacoma).
