 Volunteers Needed for a Juvenile Salmon/Fish Community
Study in Gray Harbor
The Wild Fish Conservancy is seeking volunteers to assist in an assessment of habitat use by the fish community (particularly juvenile salmon) in the tidally-influenced areas of the Chehalis River estuary (Grays Harbor) and tributaries. The sampling effort will use fyke trapping and beach seining to capture, identify, measure, and release juvenile salmon from March to September, 2011 (sampling typically occurs Monday-Thursday of each week).

We are looking for a student to help us develop a web site for our UWT and First Creek Middle School Joint Monitoring and Stewardship Project! If you have some experience using Adobe Dreamweaver software we would like to hear from you! We can provide you with a template to use as well. UWT Environmental Science students and faculty teamed up with First Creek Middle School students and faculty in 2010 to begin monitoring a local creek, First Creek, located adjacent to the First Creek Middle School in Tacoma. Since then there have been several community, outreach and restoration events held to promote stewardship of this local creek. The web site is intended to share the water quality data collected by both UWT and First Creek Middle School students to the community as well as to showcase the restoration and clean up efforts done around the First Creek community.
