South Fork Research is seeking a biologist with advanced data management skills to maintain and analyze physical and biological data collected as part of an intensively monitored watershed project studying the long-term effects of stream restoration on salmon habitat and salmon populations (Bridge Creek Intensively Monitoring Watershed, Integrated Status and Effectiveness Monitoring Program). The successful applicant will focus on the collection of field data for monitoring changes in vegetation along a heavily incised stream in eastern Oregon (Bridge Creek) that is being restored in concert with beaver activity and structure placements. The incumbent will also maintain and update water temperature, climate, and groundwater data, including data collection, quality assurance, and summary in database formats. GIS data will be managed in geodatabases and maintained, updated, and documented as needed with metadata. I am seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student for a graduate assistantship in Biological Oceanography at the University of Washington (UW) to develop a research program within the framework of understanding the effects of ocean acidification on crustacean zooplankton and ecosystem dynamics. The position will begin in Summer (preferably) or Fall 2012. The successful candidate will develop interdisciplinary research (across biological, chemical, and physical oceanography) focused on biology, do field and laboratory work, and collaborate closely with a team of researchers at the UW (Oceanography and Fisheries departments) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The successful candidate will be encouraged to present their research at international conferences and prepare their work for publication in highly-ranked peer-reviewed journals.

Program Coordination

Community Partnerships

Most major events, such as the Student GREEN Congress, are produced in partnership with the Nisqually River Education Project and multiple community partners. Program Outreach
Develops and presents marketing materials and information, including overseeing outreach work by the AmeriCorps member for the web page, social media, and publications; provides audio-visual presentations for a variety of audiences.
