SENIOR FISHERIES BIOLOGIST

Pentec Environmental, the natural resources division of Hart Crowser, Inc., is growing. We have an opportunity for a highly motivated senior level Fisheries Biologist to work with our water and natural resources services groups. While the geographic range of projects this individual will be responsible for could extend from Oregon to Alaska, the position will be located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in our Edmonds, WA office.

Qualifications for this position include a M.S. or Ph.D. in Fisheries Biology with 10+ years of Pacific Northwest consulting experience. Thorough knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, NEPA, Marine Mammal Protection Act, and Pacific and Washington State species, issues and regulations is required. Experience should include a mix of the following: marine, estuarine and freshwater ecology of salmonids and forage fish; fish habitat assessment and mitigation; project permitting; marine or freshwater aquaculture; NEPA/SEPA studies; and evaluation of project impacts on natural resources. Experience in coastal and freshwater habitat restoration, the Model Toxics Control Act, GIS applications, database management, and forested ecosystems are also highly desirable.

 As a senior member of the firm, this individual’s responsibilities will include business development, client management, leading project teams in both office and field settings, and active participation in strategic planning and leadership of the natural resources practice. Strong communications and interpersonal skills, technical writing, and proven capabilities in mentoring of junior staff are critical. Established working relationships with a local or regional client base is a significant plus for the position. Remote field assignments of 1-3 weeks are likely.
