INVASIVE SPECIES SPECIALIST – CLOSE 09/02/11
Invasive Species Specialist within the Division of Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Protection currently funded for 2 years. Initially, the position will implement and manage an ongoing project related to the control and/or eradication of Japanese knotweed. The position is expected to complete a major role in developing a broad program related to invasive species. This broad invasive species program is anticipated to include both terrestrial and aquatic species. The position is responsible for the planning, design, project implementation and monitoring, and coordination of assigned project(s). Responsible for communication and coordination with government agencies, private landowners, non-governmental organizations, cooperative weed management areas and other cooperatives in pursuing invasive species management and control. Responsibilities include planning, design, project implementation and monitoring, and coordination of projects. Incumbent must be organized and able to innovate to meet objectives. This position requires demonstrated leadership ability, organizational skills, well-developed oral & written communication skills and skills in use of word processor, spreadsheet, database software and GPS/GIS technology. Must have Valid WA State driver’s license, Bachelor’s degree with preferred major study in natural resource management or other related natural resource (ecology, wildlife, etc.), and 3 years progressively responsible experience in professional invasive species management activities of which two years shall be at a supervisory or professional level, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
