Environmental Health Outreach Specialist Level 4
 

National Asian Pacific Center on Aging needs a senior 55 years of age or older (PL-98-313) to work under the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program, for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Seattle, Washington.

 
Qualifications:  Must be at least 55 years of age. Have a college degree in public health, environmental science, building science, communications, or related field, and at least three years of experience in outreach, environmental health, facility management, or related field. Have knowledge of topics affecting student and staff health in schools (e.g., indoor air quality, pesticides, and hazardous chemicals). Have experience with designing and developing outreach material.  Be able to work with diverse individuals and in a team structure. Have experience with grant writing and federal grant application processes. Have excellent verbal and written communication, decision-making, organizational and customer service skills, and ability to work independently.  
 
Responsibilities and Duties:  Work with EPA’s Region 10 Schools Team to develop and provide technical assistance and educational opportunities and information to school districts, schools, states, and tribes. Develop and provide outreach materials about funding opportunities and deliver technical training to communities on a variety of topics (e.g. grant writing, facility maintenance).  Assist the Schools Team in developing and disseminating outreach materials and information about learning opportunities in order to increase adoption of EPA’s voluntary school programs and guidelines. Learn about and stay up to date on various EPA programs, grants, grant application requirements, and school environmental health topics. Travel to communities in WA, ID, OR, and AK to support and train communities in order to improve federal grant applications. Train school personnel on school environmental health and the use of school environmental assessment tools and EPA’s voluntary school programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
$12.72 per hour / 30-40 hours per week.  Temporary year-to-year.  Holidays, vacation, sick leave, health benefits.  EOE.
