Fish and Wildlife Biologist 3 – Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (Olympia, WA)

The Area Fish Biologist reports to the District Biologist and is primarily responsible for field work and technical duties associated with fisheries management in WDFW administrative District 11, an area covering 3 counties (Pierce, Thurston, and Mason). This position is directly responsible for activities in Pierce County and the Puyallup/White river watersheds. This responsibility extends to the management of fishery resources in order to provide sustainable fishing opportunities while ensuring that resource and fisheries management, tribal co-management communications and responsibilities, and the protection of ESA listed species are accomplished within this District. The position is also responsible for coordinating hatchery and fishery reform throughout Pierce County. The Area Fish Biologist is expected to manage fish resources in lakes and streams to ensure healthy and diverse populations while maximizing sport and commercial fishing opportunities.
