Fish and Wildlife Biologist 3 – Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (Shelton, WA)

The District 15 Area Fish Biologist reports to the District Biologist and is primarily responsible for field work and technical duties associated with fisheries management in WDFW administrative District 15, an area covering 3 counties (east Jefferson, Mason, and Kitsap) and includes all watersheds flowing to eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hood Canal and the northern portion of the Kitsap Peninsula. The position is responsible for managing fish resources to provide sustainable fishing opportunities while ensuring that resource and fisheries management, tribal co-management communications and responsibilities, and the protection of ESA listed species are accomplished within this District. The position is also responsible for coordinating hatchery and fishery reform throughout Hood Canal. The Area Fish Biologist is expected to manage the fish resources in the lakes and streams within the District to ensure healthy and diverse populations while maximizing sport and commercial fishing opportunities.
