Assist project managers in the execution of research projects being conducted by the Ecology Group in the Columbia River Basin. This includes management and presentation of environmental data generated from field and laboratory studies investigating how hydropower development and operation in the Columbia River Basin affects fish. The fisheries researcher is expected to know basic data management and environmental science at a level that will enable the individual to apply basic theories, tools, and methods to well-defined assignments of limited scope.
This position will be performed primarily as an individual contributor under the technical guidance of experienced staff and will contribute to the production of technical documents. This may include coordinating schedules and producing outcomes of specific tasks of a larger project. A role of leading small field teams of 4 to 5 junior staff, research associates or subcontractors in the completion of activities will be occasional. This individual will assist in data management, summary, analysis, presentation, and initial interpretation. Also be responsible for safe implementation of field work and safe operation of research equipment, including off-road vehicles, boats, and other equipment routinely used in field studies.
