This is one permanent Fish Hatchery Specialist 3 position in the Fish Program, Hatchery Division, Region 6. The duty station is the George Adams Hatchery located at W 40 Skokomish Valley Road, Shelton, WA.
Duties:
This facility rears Coho, Chinook and Chum.
The following job duties are expected of the Fish Hatchery Specialist 3 sited at the George Adams Hatchery.
- This position works closely with NGO’s, Tribal, and other biological staff in accomplishing mutual goals.
- Fish Culture; Responsible for coordinating all fish culture activities including adult and juvenile sorting, transporting and program development
- Crew Leader; Serves as a leader and role model for staff and carries out assignments as a working leader; Ensures safety compliance
- Physical Operation and Maintenance of Facility; Ensures that working components of the fish hatchery are kept in good working condition (i.e. pumps & motors, vehicles, alarms, generators, flashlights); Maintains the grounds;
- Ensures timely repairs to facility and infrastructure and actively identifies safety hazards and takes action or recommends remedies.
- Communications: Represents the agency professionally and communicates effectively; disseminates information from management and supervisors in productive manner; keep managers and supervisors informed of production issues that may lead to program shortfalls or fish health concerns
