The Community Engagement Project Leader will lead the development of a statewide process/plan for the Marine Resources Program (MRP) that may be used for engaging communities in marine reserves implementation, coastal and marine spatial planning, Oregon Nearshore Strategy efforts or other marine resource management issues. Advisory groups specific to fishery management objectives are outside the scope of this position. S/he may also assist MRP and fish division leaders in liaison efforts related to marine resource management issues with elected officials and pursuing funding options for MRP and the marine reserves program. This position contends with issues and tasks that are highly complex and controversial. An understanding of public process and the complexities inherent to natural resource management issues are fundamental to this position.
