Natural Resource Technician – 6 seasonal positions

Position Description: Positions will be responsible for collecting field data for a forest stream hydrology study across eastern Washington. Candidates must have the proven capability to navigate by foot and vehicle in forested environments, and have experience collecting scientific data. Successful candidates will receive training and work either independently or small crews. Job conditions are strenuous and require applicants to be in excellent physical condition and capable of traversing steep forested terrain. Map reading skills, ability to interpret aerial photography and orienteering skills are key and will be used on a daily basis.
Qualifications: Applicants must have completed a college degree in hydrology, geology/geomorphology, geography, or other natural resource field or be actively seeking a degree in a listed scientific discipline. Successful applicants will have demonstrated knowledge and appreciation for following rigorous sampling methods and collecting scientific data. Specific knowledge of headwater sediment-transport processes and the ability to recognize the influence of sediment supply, flood events, mass wasting, and management on channel form is highly desirable.
Salary: $12.50 - $17.50 per hour plus overtime, depending on experience.
Duration: Temporary seasonal term July 16 through September 16. West Fork Environmental is willing to discuss accommodations for academic schedules, internships and work experience opportunities.
