Deadline: March 30, 2012
The USFWS is offering several Biological Science Aide positions with a couple of different focuses. Some positions focus on Pacific lamprey and western brook lamprey. That work will include deep water boat electrofishing, backpack electrofishing, tagging fish, collection of tissue for genetic analysis, and habitat surveys. Work also occurs at hatcheries where captive rearing techniques for lamprey are being studied. Other positions will focus on native trout or salmon. That work may consist of electrofishing and habitat surveys for bull trout in the Lewis and Walla Walla river subbasins of Washington, as well as headwater streams in the Mt. Hood National Forest and Eagle Cap Wilderness Area of NE Oregon. Much of the work will involve tagging fish with Passive Integrated Transponders (PITs) as well as the collection of tissue for genetic analysis and habitat surveys.
