Rayonier, a Real Estate Investment Trust, has several openings in their U.S. Forest Resources business. Two positions are currently open in Olympia, WA:
The Associate General Counsel, who will be the senior resident leader at Rayonier’s Olympia, Washington office, will report directly to Rayonier’s Vice President and General Counsel and provide advice and counsel to:
- U.S. Forest Resources (timber) and Real Estate business in certain key business units, including those in Washington, Arkansas and New York, and export matters (Business units are subject to change over time as timber base grows and changes through acquisition.)
- Rayonier’s Environmental Affairs group, primarily relating to all aspects of environmental assessment and remediation projects in the U.S
- Rayonier New Zealand, which is the managing partner of our Matariki (N.Z.) timberland joint venture, and the joint venture itself
- The Vice President and General Counsel, on corporate initiatives, programs and special projects
The Remediation Manager will be responsible for implementing remediation strategies consistent with Rayonier’s objectives at discontinued operations primarily in the state of Washington. The person is responsible for overseeing day to day operations; ensuring compliance; providing supervision, direction, and oversight to consultants, contractors, and other vendors; negotiating with regulatory agencies; developing and implementing detailed project plans; and preparing budgets and financial estimates. Experience in environmental regulation, organizational and budget management, remedial technology implementation, and regulatory agency relationships and negotiation are essential for success.
