LandVest, Inc. - Institutional Timberlands Group
The LandVest Institutional Timberlands Group is a specialized project team within LandVest’s Timberland Group. ITG primarily focuses on timberland transaction management, representing landowners in the disposition of institutional timberland investments. ITG covers the southeastern portion of the U.S., portions of Appalachia, the Intermountain West and the Pacific Northwest. ITG also works on specialized consulting projects focusing on conservation planning, disposition planning, higher and better use valuation, fiber supply analysis and acquisition due diligence. ITG is based out of Concord, New Hampshire and Atlanta, Georgia and is currently expanding its physical footprint to the Pacific Northwest. The Manager of the Western Region will head up the development of the new office and be the senior regional person as the operation grows.
The Director of the Western Region will be primarily focused on the development and management of timberland marketing projects from 10,000 acres to 100,000 acres+.
Transaction Management activities will include:
· Working with ITG’s Managing Director in maintaining existing client project relationships and developing new project work with landowners.
· Writing proposals in response to marketing RFPs for existing and new clients. · Managing property data for current and new projects including inventory analysis, land records, environmental reports, etc.
· Working with LandVest’s GIS staff in creating mapping solutions for project work.
· Managing all elements of the marketing material cycle including writing copy for brochures, overseeing photography and working with our graphics department and marketing coordinators in the production and media placement of materials.
· Conducting property showings and field tours for interested customers.
· Manage the negotiation of purchase and sale contracts.
· Assisting clients in property closings.
· Participating in special consulting projects analyzing different components of property values – often in conjunction with LandVest’s Real Estate Consulting Group.
The successful candidate will ultimately be a licensed Real Estate Broker in the states of Washington and Oregon.
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Forest Management (or related field) and a minimum of 10-years experience in timberland management, marketing or operations. An advanced degree in Business, Economics or Forest Management will be a strong plus. He or she will have experience in timberland acquisition, disposition, contracts and property records.
Data management is an important aspect of the position. The ideal candidate will have high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple elements of a transaction at one time. He or she should have strong writing and communication skills. Ultimately, the position will be strategically located in western Washington or Western Oregon in the Seattle or Portland area. There is some flexibility as to the final location, as long as the candidate can physically service regional property tours and client meetings. The position will require travel for approximately 20% of the time, with periodic increases during peak project periods.
