During summer months, collect vegetation and wildlife population data on habitat restoration projects. The research objective is to determine target species occurrence, abundance, and response to habitat changes. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Locate transect and data collection points using maps, GPS, aerial photographs and written/verbal directions. Work requires frequent camping throughout the field season because of the remoteness of the study areas.
- Collect vegetation data (trees, shrubs, forbs, annual plants and grasses; both native and non-native)
- Sample small mammal and larval amphibian populations according to established methodology/protocols.
- Perform other tasks/duties as assigned, but usually related to setting up study sites, collecting accurate data in as efficient a manner as possible, and managing/downloading data.
