Aquatic Ecology Intern – Aquatic Restoration and Research Institute (Talkeetna, AK)

Deadline: March 10, 2012
The Aquatic Restoration and Research Institute (ARRI) is a non-profit corporation that  conducts water quality and fish habitat research funded by state and federal agencies. Under the direction of a field supervisor, the intern will assist in the collection, recording, and processing of water quality and fish habitat data. Activities will include collecting samples of juvenile salmon using minnow traps, identifying fish species, and obtaining weight and length measures; calibrating and deploying temperature data loggers, measuring basic water chemistry; collecting water samples for nutrient analyses; obtaining measures of stream discharge, slopes, substrate, and channel morphometry; macroinvertebrate sample collection, sorting and identification; and helping to organize, calibrate, and maintain field sampling equipment. Interns will have the opportunity to work on most, if not all, on-going projects.
