Assistant ESA Coordinator – Lummi Nation, Lummi Indian Business Council (Bellingham, WA)

The incumbent in this position will, within one year, gain hands on experience for the purpose of assuming the responsibilities of the ESA Coordinator.  In that capacity  he/she will  participate and help coordinate the Lummi Nation’s response to recovery of salmonid stocks in the Lummi Nation’s Usual and Accustomed Fishing Grounds and Stations (U&A), including but not limited to Lummi’s technical, administrative, and policy participation in tribal, local government, state, and federal salmonid recovery initiatives as they relate to stocks which the Lummi Nation utilizes in ceremonial, subsistence, and commercial fisheries. In this endeavor, the incumbent will take direction from the ESA Coordinator, and will help communicate to Natural Resources Director,  Natural Resources staff, and Lummi policy bodies as they develop interpretations of the U.S. Endangered Species Act (ESA) as it relates to Lummi Treaty Harvest Rights.
