Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator Job Opening with Intercity Transit

Intercity Transit is currently seeking a fulltime Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator. The Coordinator performs mid-level technical analysis through development, maintenance, and data acquisition associated with the Environmental and Sustainability Management System (ESMS). In addition to representing the agency with local, regional, state and federal agencies and organizations, the Coordinator facilitates the efforts of other staff and the Sustainability Committee on environmental issues to include maintenance of metrics for sustainability recognition. Excellent benefits include health insurance, PERS and deferred comp retirement plans, and paid sick and vacation leave. Wage range is $55,120-$74,422 annually.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Monitor and administer daily and recurring ESMS activities. 
  • Provide direction to staff Sustainability Committee including meeting facilitation, research, analysis, and data collection.
  • Update Sustainability Plan and ensure data for sustainability commitments are collected and compiled in a manageable, reportable database.
  • Represent Intercity Transit on land use, environmental, and sustainability issues with other organizations.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, environmental sciences, land use/transportation planning, or related field.
  • Two years experience applying the principles and practices of environmental management or sustainability; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of transit planning basics in relation to environmental/sustainability issues.
  • Skilled in designing processes to collect and maintain data, as well as research and report preparation.
  • Practiced in assessing alternative courses of action and performing cost/benefit analyses.
  • Ability to facilitate teams through effective oral and written communications toward consensus.
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking and presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient with MS Office, presentation/project management software, and database management.
  • Must be willing to submit to criminal background investigation, the results of which must meet the agency’s hiring criteria.
