This position conducts certification inspections to verify compliance with USDA National Organic Standards and international requirements, facilitating domestic and export organic products. This position investigates complaints and violations of WSDA certified organic operations to protect consumers and support the organic industry by ensuring the integrity of the organic label. Duties include but are not limited to: scheduling, conducting and completing onsite evaluations and investigations of farmers and handling/processing facilities for compliance; taking routine and risk-based samples of organic products for pesticide residues or other contaminate testing; and applying technical expertise to the development of staff guidance, policies, procedures, inspection reports, and application forms.
