The individual selected for this position will: work effectively with Indian tribes, state and Federal agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to protect and recover species listed under the Federal Endangered Species Act (ESA); fulfill Federal trust responsibilities for Indian tribes to promote sustainable fisheries; conduct technical analysis and write decision documents for the Salmon Management Division; establish and maintain constructive and professional communication with tribes, agencies and NGOs to provide regulatory and technical guidance for complying with the ESA; analyze proposed hatchery actions and fisheries using the best available scientific and commercial information; and write biological opinions under the ESA and assessments under the National Environmental Policy Act.
