The candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Planning, Environmental Policy, Natural Resource Management, Economics, or a related social science field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Previous experience should include (1) environmental analysis and documentation; and (2) knowledge of federal, state and local government policies for natural resource management.
The candidate should have demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the following specialty areas: urban/regional planning, land use analysis, public land management, recreation planning, economics, demographics, or social impact analysis, or visual resource assessment.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include evaluating the environmental impacts of land management and energy development projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or comparable state environmental laws. Specific technical activities will include research to identify laws, regulations and policies applicable to a specific project; reviewing project characteristics and requirements to assess project consistency with the applicable land management plans; collecting and analyzing data concerning existing resource conditions and relevant impact parameters; and documenting results with clear, concise text supported by graphics, tables and other visual aids.
The candidate should have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and excel in working independently and as part of a team, with superior attention to project details and organization.
