Student Internship Opportunity

Washington Stormwater Center
Eligibility

Any current UWT student is eligible to apply.  The position would most likely be relevant
to students in Environmental Studies/Science, Urban Studies, Sustainable Urban Development,
or Communications.  The position is unpaid, although academic credit may be available
depending on the student’s program.

About the Washington Stormwater Center

Washington Stormwater Center (WSC) serves NPDES permittees and stormwater managers as they
navigate the complexities and challenges of stormwater management.  We provide tools for
stormwater management by supporting municipalities, stormwater permittees, and businesses
in their efforts to control stormwater and protect water quality.



WSC is managed as a partnership between the Washington State University, Puyallup campus,
and the University of Washington, Tacoma Center for Urban Waters.



Job Description

The student intern assists with communication, outreach, and administrative tasks for the
WSC operations at the UWT Center for Urban Waters.  Specific duties include:

·      Content updates to the WSC website (no programming experience required)

·      Internet research

·      Data entry

·      Assist WSC staff with special projects as needed and as appropriate to student’s
research interests



Requirements

The successful applicant would demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

·      Strong basic computer skills

·      Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·      Ability to follow through on projects and be attentive to detail



NOTE: the position is based at the Center for Urban Waters, not on the UWT campus.  While
some work could be completed remotely, the intern is responsible for their own
transportation to/from Urban Waters.
