The On-Call/Temporary Fisheries Biologist will support work in the Puget Sound and areas east of the Cascades in Washington; and potentially Oregon, California and Alaska. This position is expected to provide expertise on salmonid and other Pacific Northwest listed fish species and in-depth knowledge of local ecology and processes. The candidate will be expected to prepare biological assessments meeting Washington and potentially Oregon standards, manage workload and to contribute to aquatic sections of NEPA or state SEPA or CEQA documents.
Key Responsibilities:
Be responsible for technical expertise on listed Pacific Northwest fish species
Prepare biological assessments and write portions of EIS, HCP and other technical documents
Contribute to discussions regarding product development and client needs
Contribute to discussions of strategic direction and markets in the Puget Sound and elsewhere
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration on fisheries, ecology, or comparable field 8+ years of experience as a fisheries professional Experience in scientific issues affecting the Puget Sound
Preferred Skills/Experience:
A graduate degree in Biology with a concentration on fisheries, ecology, or comparable field 10+ years of experience as a fisheries professional Skills in data analysis, technical writing, and/or scientific investigation
Experience in other geographical regions, particularly the Bay/Delta
Professional Skills:
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
